A new doggie daycare opened in my small town in the fall of 2009. At the time, I didn’t have a dog yet, and I didn’t get the benefits of doggie daycare. I worried that the town would not support this new business and it would fail. After all, who has money to waste on frivolous things like daycare for a dog? Shouldn’t dogs just stay in their crates or in the backyard all day while Mom and Dad are at work?
Then, I adopted a dog myself in September 2009. I wasn’t looking for a dog, but this little girl was homeless and needed a place to go and quick. I have always loved pets, and owned pets all my life until I joined the military, so I decided that I could provide the home that my little girl needed. Once I got my five-month old puppy home, I realized that daycare is very necessary for some dogs. Trying to work from home and entertain an energetic puppy all day was not working very well. So, I contacted the local doggie daycare and went in for a visit.
Once we stepped into the daycare for our meet-and-greet, I knew that daycare was the right choice for my little girl. The staff treat my girl like she is one of their own puppy-children. She has tons of friends, and she is Miss Popularity. The dogs are split up into two groups – little dogs have their own indoor and outdoor play areas, and big dogs hang out in their own size-appropriate areas. The dogs also have tons of toys to play with, and actual dog-appropriate playground equipment outside to climb on. In the summer, wading pools are set up for the pets to cool off in. And the dogs are never left without supervision ever.
Perhaps the best part of doggie daycare is the webcams. Our daycare has a secure DoggieCam set up, and you can switch between five different views, so you can check out your pooch no matter where they happen to be. This was especially helpful at the beginning of my little girl’s daycare career. I worked at home and checked in on her once in a while to put my mind at ease and laugh at her antics.
I thoroughly enjoyed sitting and playing with her for a long time and mentally thanked Daycare for solving my problem while dog cams aren’t as popular they’re still worth it to lift their mood so you too should check it out online.
Daycare for my girl runs only $8 for half-day playtime, or $11 for full-day. Her daycare also offers boarding and grooming services, so it’s a one-stop shop for all of her needs. Since we adopted her second pooch in the summer of 2010, I only send the girls to daycare one or two days a week, but it gives me time to run errands and work on projects. I can’t imagine leaving the girls home alone in their crates all day, or out in the backyard where they might somehow get into trouble. Daycare is the best option for us. The girls are safe and happy, and I am secure in the knowledge that they are getting as much love as I would give them at home.
If you are contemplating daycare for your furry baby, it is definitely a good choice. Dogs have a tendency to create mischief when they are home alone and bored. Daycare will keep them occupied in positive ways, and save your house and belongings from roaming teeth and claws. Daycare is a great option for all dogs, even those who are past the puppy stage.
